Position Title: Associate Director of the Drexel Fund, College of Medicine and Health Sciences

Reports to: Executive Director of Development, College of Medicine and Health Sciences; secondary reporting line to Director, Strategy and Analytics, Drexel Fund

Basic Function:

The Associate Director of the Drexel Fund, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, is responsible for developing a comprehensive annual giving strategy for the College of Medicine (COM), College of Nursing and Health Professions (CNHP), and Dornsife School of Public Health (DSP).  He or she develops a coordinated mix of communication, solicitation and stewardship strategies involving print, digital, phone, personal visitation, and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support for the unit.  The Associate Director has a keen appreciation for the foundation of annual giving as the enabling component of successful major and gift planning programs.  He or she reports to the Executive Director of Development, College of Medicine and Health Sciences with a secondary reporting line to the Director, Strategy and Analytics, Drexel Fund.

Detail:

  1. Collaborates with the Executive Director of Development, College of Medicine and Health Sciences and Director, Strategy and Analytics, Drexel Fund, to plan and execute an annual giving strategy for the College of Medicine (COM), College of Nursing and Health Professions (CNHP), and Dornsife School of Public Health (DPH). 

  1. Focuses closely on effective communication and solicitation activities within specific donor segments identified as having potential for the greatest growth for the unit. 

  2. Works closely with the Executive Director of Development, College of Medicine and Health Sciences and Director, Strategy and Analytics, Drexel Fund, the Deans of COM, CNHP, DPH, and development officers within the unit to increase support of the unrestricted fund for the schools/colleges within the unit.  Collaborates very closely with development officers to gain strong participation in annual giving and build strategies for moving donors to higher giving levels.  

  3. Works with the Drexel Fund team to provide content for direct mail, social media, phone calls, and personal outreach in unit-specific appeals for COM, CNHP, or DPH.  Coordinates efforts with the Drexel Fund strategy and solicitation plan. 

  4. Works closely with the Drexel Fund team to provide strategy and direction for the phonathon program (if strategically appropriate), including developing segmented asks and calling scripts specific to the schools and colleges within the unit. 

  5. Manages all aspects of COM student fundraising initiatives, including advising those students CNHP, DPH, seeking both fundraising guidance and solicitation assistance from Institutional Advancement for outside funding toward student projects. Spends time engaging with students on various campuses as appropriate.    

  6. Seeks to engage parents through the targeted solicitations of high net-worth parents.    

  7. Grows Anthony J. Drexel Society membership among donors to COM, CNHP, and DPH.

  1. Develops young alumni programming and increases giving and participation from recent graduates through strategic, targeted approaches, including personal visits if necessary.

  2. Seeks out opportunities to engage with department heads and associate deans on fundraising efforts. 

  1. Collaborates with Director, Strategy and Analytics, Drexel Fund to develop useful reports and analyze those reports to identify giving trends to ultimately increase support from targeted audiences.

  1. Assists in the qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of unrestricted COM, CNHP, and DPH and donors up to $25,000 for the Drexel Fund.

  2. Identifies key volunteers through the ongoing management and enhancement of the A.J. Drexel Society and the Drexel Fund.

  3. Stewards donors through ongoing communications, recognition activities, invitations to key events, and interaction with beneficiaries of their support.

  4. Promotes University priorities and image to constituents.  Understand and promote campus goals and objectives.  Maintain current knowledge of university-wide institutional priorities.

  5. Adheres to performance goals and standards for Associate Director of the Drexel Fund as specified under Office of Institutional Advancement guidelines.  Any changes during employment to these guidelines will be disseminated in a timely manner.

  6. Follows Institutional Advancement procedures with regard to prospect management and documenting contacts. Responsible for oversight and submission of all relative fund raising reports, statistics, projections and publications.

  7. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Three or more years’ experience of demonstrated success in annual fund fundraising in a higher education development program is required.

  2. Bachelor’s degree required.

  3. Ability and willingness to travel required.

  4. Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends required

  5. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills required.

  6. Excellent administrative skills required.

  7. Previous experience working with senior-level executives preferred.

  8. Knowledge of prospect management systems preferred.

  9. Knowledge of database fundraising software CS Advance and Reeher is desirable.

  10. Web fundraising and knowledge of social media platforms experience is desirable.

Supervision and Evaluation:

The Associate of Development, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Drexel Fund reports to the Executive Director of Development, College of Medicine and Health Sciences and has a dotted line to the Director, Strategy and Analytics, Drexel Fund.  Performance evaluations will be prepared by the Executive Director of Development, College of Medicine and Health Sciences in consultation with the Director, Strategy and Analytics, Drexel Fund.
