What is a CGA?

A CGA is a contractual agreement between you and Drexel University. In exchange for your donation of $10,000 or more, Drexel promises to pay a fixed dollar amount to one or two people for life. At the end of the contract, Drexel receives the remainder of the original gift and uses it for the purpose that you have designated.

While you may choose to have the CGA income paid to yourself and your spouse, the annuity payments could instead provide extra financial security for up to two others, such as an older sibling or elderly parent. The rate of payment varies with each CGA contract (depending on ages of the people receiving payments, the number of annuitants, the timing of the gift and the date that payments begin), and the payments received will be partially income tax-free for the recipient(s) for a period of years.
