About the Office of Institutional Advancement
Drexel’s Office of Institutional Advancement (IA) supports the University’s mission and strategic priorities by generating philanthropic engagement and by building and strengthening relationships among alumni, students, faculty, staff, civic leaders, friends, and foundation and corporate partners. We aspire to create a sustainable and lasting culture of philanthropy at Drexel University by cultivating the next generation of leadership through volunteer initiatives and alumni engagement
IA operates on a centralized fundraising model, employing approximately 120 total staff with our primary offices located in Drexel’s Main Building. Frontline fundraisers are assigned to lead regional or school/college-based fundraising programs and are housed in the schools, colleges, or unit areas in which they serve.
Our functions include major gifts, annual giving, gift accounting and records management, prospect research, gift planning, foundation and corporate relations, alumni relations, donor relations and stewardship, event operations, and marketing and communications.
In alignment with Drexel University’s values and priorities, IA is committed to maintaining a flexible and dynamic work environment that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion; professional and career development; and collaboration and innovation across all our departments.
The Campaign for Drexel
Led by IA, Drexel’s $750 million campaign, The Future Is a Place We Make, was launched publicly in 2017. The Campaign for Drexel advances the University’s highest strategic priorities, including creating pathways for student support and success; growing commitment to access, divesity and inclusion; pioneering approaches in teaching and learning; accelerating multidisciplinary and high-impact research and innovation; and deepening civic engagement. In addition to financial goals, the campaign seeks to engage a widening circle of alumni in the life of the University.
